Year built: 2019
Plan: My Own using ideas from one at Menards
The deck planter I built just two years ago had a bottom that was already failing, rotted and ready to fall out. So, back to the shop for a redo.
Kathryn likes the planter and asked if I could build a new one so, fixed the old one and built a new one.
To make the attachment of the sides to the legs more robust I added 4 4" screws to each joint. Even into end grain, this should hold nicely.
The bottom, I built a frame that will much better support the plywood bottom so, essentially, now the bottom is 1 1/2 thick. Additionally, I put two heavy coats of stain on the bottom and caulked the perimeter to keep the moisture from getting at it. Kind of forgot this is holding a pile of wer dirt. I think these new ones will last a long time.
